John Randall has worked with Broadway, television, and concert artists such as Loretta Devine, Patrick Cassidy, Rachel York, Michele Lee, Bernadette Peters, David Cassidy, Susan Egan, Liz Callaway, Linda Purl, Ariana Grande, and Spencer Day.


American Idol

In concert, he has been a pianist and musical director for American Idol finalists that have included Melinda Doolittle, Carly Smithson, Kimberly Locke, and Justin Guarini. In Dallas, his performances included playing alongside the Dallas Symphony Orchestra.


New York

New York Broadway credits include playing in the orchestras for Beauty and the Beast and Annie (revival/Nell Carter).

Off-Broadway as an actor, singer, and pianist, he understudied and performed the leading role of Gideon in The Last Session at the 47th St. Theatre.

Also, Off-Broadway and on tour, he served as pianist and musical director for Forbidden Broadway.


National Tours

National Tour credits as conductor and pianist include Barry Manilow’s Copacabana (Gavin Macleod) and Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat (Patrick Cassidy/Deborah Gibson).

Other National Tours as a keyboard player and vocalist include Jersey Boys, Jesus Christ Superstar (Ted Neely/Carl Anderson),The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas (Ann-Margret), and Mamma Mia.


Regional Theatre

Regional theatre credits include A Snow White Christmas (Ariana Grande) at the Pasadena Playhouse, First Wives Club The Musical (Karen Ziemba) at the Globe Theatre in San Diego, Mask at the Pasadena Playhouse, They’re Playing Our Song (Vicki Lewis) at the El Portal Theatre in North Hollywood, A Marvelous Party, the Music of Noel Coward at the Laguna Playhouse, The Honky Tonk Angels at the Alabama Shakespeare Festival, Menopause the Musical (Michele Mais), and Always…Patsy Cline (Sally Struthers) at the Coronet Theatre in Los Angeles, where he was nominated for an LA Drama Critics Circle Award for Best Musical Direction.


Nightclub & Concert

In nightclub and concert, he has appeared with Lee Lessack, Brian Lane Green, Kevin Spirtas, Danny Gurwin, Sean McDermott, and Steven Brinberg in Simply Barbra.

In the concert/nightclub/theatre scene, he has served as musical director and/or accompanist for Bernadette Peters, Michele Lee, Patrick Cassidy, Rachel York, Linda Purl, Sean McDermott, Vicki Lewis, Danny Gurwin, Liz Callaway, Susan Egan, and American Idols Melinda Doolittle and Kimberly Locke.


Television

On television as a pianist, he has appeared on episodes of House MD (Hugh Laurie), NCIS (Robert Wagner), and the film Yours, Mine, and Ours (Dennis Quaid/Renee Russo).

In New York and Los Angeles, he has played hundreds of auditions for casting directors Bernie Telsey, Tara Rubin, Jay Binder, Dave Clemmons, Cindy Tolan, Jim Carnahan, Jeremy Rich Casting, and the Roundabout–to name a few.
